Song of the Week "Your not your Mistakes" (Part 1)
It’s like you’ve been hypnotized,
Stumbling your way through life.
And it’s weighing you down,
On our P-day, we had the Carlton Elders over and we played a really fun version of Monopoly! We had Lord of the Rings monopoly and Star Wars Monopoly, so we just combined them and played with both sets. It was actually super fun, and we probably will play it again in a couple weeks. The next day we had our exchanges and I went with Elder Fletcher, and we spent the day down on the Reservation. We talked to a lot of natives down there, and will hopefully be seeing some of them again!
Wanting to do what’s right.
You fall ev’ry time you try,
What are you gonna do now?
Wednesday we had Lunch and did some service for Grandma Piecek. She is sweet, and on Thursday she gave us tons of fresh fruits and vegetables! Which has been amazing, having a healthier diet this past week! After going to grandma's we tried stopping by some members homes, but none of them were home. We decided to have a companionship study instead, and then after we studied the scriptures together, we were able to go and see this older couple in the branch, and we were able to talk with them for a while! We then had a lesson and got to know the Elders Quorum President and his wife better. We then set up a time for Saturday to go and help them with there home, as they had been remodeling.
You could hang your head low, head low, or
You could pick yourself up, move forward.
Friday we went down to the Mille Lacs reservation and we tried stopping by all the people we had found before, but no one was home. We were able to visit a less active lady named Barb and she really appreciated us coming over again. We set up a time to go do a service project for her, and I invited her to start reading the Book of Mormon again. She said she would, and then sent us off with some really good Italian bread and some hot dogs. We told her she didn't need to give us anything, and she said, well you are missionaries, and I know I need to feed you, so take it! Everyone here really has that ingrained in the heads. Missionaries need food. Missionaries need food. Missionaries need food. Well I'm not gonna complain!
No matter how bad it gets, it’s not over.
It’s not over.
You’re not your mistakes.
It’s just something you do sometimes.
On Saturday we were able to go and help out our Elders Quorum President and his wife and we helped them remodel some of there house. They have an adorable little girl, who was being so funny the whole time. They got us some Rafferty's Pizza, which was super good! After service and lunch we did our weekly planning and made a lot of plans out for the week. We had dinner with the Crowthers and they had a big great family reunion there! They had a fish fry and had about 60 croppies, cooked up, as well as a large array of other foods. It was great, and they offered us leftovers, but we don't even have enough room in our fridge for it, so we didn't take any.
But that’s not who you are
In your heart
’Cause you keep on trying.
So don’t be so hard on yourself.
We ended off the night by teaching a man named Ray, and it went awesome! Right near the beginning of our visit, some guy came up to us, and asked us if we wanted free ice cream, so of course we said yes! He gave Ray 1 pack, and us 2 packs. There were eight 1 pint Ice creams, in each pack! So now we have no more room in our freezer either! After he left we went back to playing chess, and Ray, beat both of us again, but, I almost beat him. We were able to share the spirit with him, and we both feel impressed that he wants the gospel, but that he is too afraid to ask. That's why he plays chess with us, and then casually asks questions. It's his normal and natural way of wanting to learn more.
Just ask Him for a little help.
This is only a phase,
And there’s time to change.
You’re not your mistakes.
