On Monday, we had a super chill Pday! We were able to chill at the Gauthier's house again, but they were not home and left the house unlocked for us. We did our Laundry there and just chilled for a bit. Then we decided to play some games and we saw that they had Uno:Flip. We decided to try it because we had never seen that version before. It was super fun, and we played it for hours! We then went back to our areas, and we did some stop by's to end the night.
Tuesday, we were supposed to have service with a guy named Brother Shaffer. He has a garage/car shop in North Minneapolis, and we go there to clean it out. Basically he didn't ever do anything with the car shop, as he is in charge of the towing side of the company. When he found out the place was a mess he decided to look at it. Turns out there is so much garbage, they can't even walk around, let alone fit a car in there. So we have been cleaning it out the last month. Well we showed up and he took us to lunch, but when we got back everyone had left, and we couldn't do what we planned. So we left. Then I went and contacted every member and was trying to set up lessons with them all. That night we had dinner with the Smith family. The are both returned missionaries and they are both super solid members that moved a couple months ago. They fed us some BOMB baked mac and cheese! After we had a lesson with another family and they have a pet bunny. They were talking to us about how it is the best apartment pet you can have. They are easily trained, don't eat too much, and they are quiet.
Wednesday, we had District Council, and it was alright, everyone showed up late, but oh well. After District Council we ate some grub, and I got back to contacting everyone. The reason I have been contacting everyone is because Elder Hardwick, has had Ringworm, and it kept spreading all over his arm. So our Mission doctor instructed him to, if at all possible, not cover it. Well it being January in Minnesota, that meant we couldn't go outside... so we decided to contact all of the 400+ (only 100 are active) members we have in the area. I have been setting up lessons with as many as I could. Then we had dinner and we had Tacos. After dinner we went to a members home, because she said that she would be fine with us coming over and praying with her. So we went over to her listed address, and she didn't live there, her dad did. Her dad, although not interested, let us in for a bit and grabbed her new address for us. After a little talk we went on our way to the daughter. Well, apparently she hasn't had the number that we texted in 8 years, and somehow the person who now has that number, has the same first name. It was kinda frustrating.
Thursday, was a pretty good day! We had a lesson with Alonzo, and he is a 14 year old kid of some inactive members. We have to take things very slow and simple with him because he doesn't understand any of the terms, and words we use. It's been very interesting to really see how many words we use that are kinda specific to religion and ours in particular. It took us an hour to read 10 verses, so that kinda gives you an idea. Good thing is though, you can tell he really does want to know and learn about it! We also had a lesson that night with a member and she didn't really like us before. We just talked to her, and really got to know each other and she really likes us now! It was super cool because Elder Hardwick knows his cars pretty well, and she needs help fixing her car door lock. So it is awesome that we are able to help her out.
Friday, we were able to actually help Brother Shaffer at his garage again and we set up some shelving about 15 feet high. After we set that up we stacked up rims and organized them by brand. We have cleared up so much room now in there! After our service there was a blizzard, and everyone got scared and canceled on us. Which was kind of dumb, because none of them had to drive, because we would go to there house. But oh well.
Sunday, after church we had a couple lessons, and then we got a ride down to our Mission Presidents Fireside! It's always a good time there, because you see old missionary friends and meet a bunch of converts! We had a guy named Emmanuel who got baptized in Crystal in November speak. He is always smiling and just a happy dude!
